Fishing Report February 26th, 2018

Great fishing to be had here on our Tailwaters,  Despite the crazy amounts of rain Mature Nature has been gracing us with the weather is finally turning around.  I can’t think of a better way to welcome spring but with a trip down one of our fantastic rivers.

It has been a mixed bag on the menu for the trout of the SoHo and until we start seeing larger hatches that will continue.  What are these fishing eating?   I feel like a broken record but here we go,  Scuds, Sowbugs, Midges and Olives nymphs are all bringing fish to the net.  Is this 2600 cfs fishing well?  Yep sure is. It’s a little tough to fish on anchor so staying on the move is the name of the game.  Attention Streamer Aficionado’s,  For those of you looking to cast streamers in hopes of connecting with a giant,  Now is your chance with the high flows both rivers have been producing.

Now is also the time to start thinking about the Caddis Hatch and Sulphurs coming in hot.  We still have availability to give you a front row seat at nature’s screening for one of these hatches.  Give us a call and we will get you dialed in for a great experience.

Speaking of coming in hot,  The 2nd Annual Tailwater Round Up is right around the corner March 16th,17th & 18th.  We have some fantastic prizes that will be given away all for a great cause.  FT3 Film Showing March 16th at Holston River Brewing Co.  Watauga and SoHo River Clean up Saturday March 17th and Sunday March 18th the SOHO 2MAN Flyfishing Tournament,  Do not miss out.  Contact us or make a trip to a local outfitter and mention the Round Up for more details.  Hope to see you there!
